I’m 17-Years-Old, I Have a Baby, and I Want to Donate….

February 9, 2012 in egg donor blog by Kate

I am 17 years old, I thought about maybe donating my eggs.  I have a 6 month old daughter.  Yes, I had her early but I was wondering how would it affect me with having children in the future if I donated my eggs?  Also, how old do you have to be ?

Any agency you’d want to trust your reproductive health with will not allow you to donate your eggs until you are 21-years-old.  And, to be very candid with you, taking into consideration your having had a child so young, and wanting to donate your eggs at this point in your life–and in your child’s life, I’d be surprised if an agency would consider you a candidate for donation.  It’s not simply a matter of being a girl and having ovaries, there are an incredible amount of factors that go into the selection process.  You’re only 17…you have 4 years before your eligible to donate, and a great many things happen in a person’s life in 4 years–your 6-month old daughter is a clear example.  Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in making a wise decision.
