Egg donor blog

No one in my family knows who my maternal grandad is, and all my maternal aunts and uncles are only half-related to me; same mother, different father.  So I don’t know my full medical/ethnic background.  Are there any egg donation agencies that will take me?

I can’t say.  Truly.  I get this question a lot…a lot a lot…and my lack of knowledge is always the same.  I really can’t say if it’ll be an issue.  I mean, if it were your dad, yeah, problem.  Your grandfather, though, I’m not sure will matter.  Because–in my layman’s head–if it’s gonna trickle down from your grandfather, I feel like it’d have gotten to someone by now, and whatever “it” is, you’d be aware via another carrier.  That said, I’m no doctor, and I have no idea with any sort of certainty whatsoever.  Honesty is policy; tell the agency you’d like to work with all your concerns upfront, and they’ll be honest right back and tell you if you’re a candidate.
